Lineage | The bait fish were caught through standardised effort per month (3 bait fishing trips, equating to approximately 6 hours of effort per month). Fish were caught by chumming then capturing with dip nets, hook and line and droppers. Afterwards the fish were processed in the laboratory and their stomach contents were first fixed in ethanol and subsequently analysed by visual identification. After fixation samples were transferred to a petri dish and examined using a light microscope. Approximate percentages were estimated by eye and plastic items were counted. |
