Lineage A gouge auger was used to take intact soil cores to a maximum depth of 30 cm: actual depths varied from 10 to 30 cm depending on location. At most sampling locations several cores were taken and the samples bulked. For samples taken at conservation sites (euphorbia) and several other locations, trowel samples (0 – 5 cm depth) were taken as the soil was too dry and stony for intact coring. The file comprises also notes and general description of vegetation and terrain. Waypoint ID’s from two GPS (one for each surveyor) were kept for reference, although the geographic coordinates of the sampled locations presented are the waypoints of one GPS (that one of the park warden). The soil samples were analysed for a range of chemical, physical and biological assay.
