Lineage | A infra-red motion sensor camera trap was positioned in front of a known nesting cavity on Egg Island, off the coast of mainland St Helena, during routine monitoring. The camera was used to document a unidentified seabird species previously heard calling from the cavity. The camera was used periodically from 2017 to 2021 when access would allow for camera maintanence. ~15435 images were captured including ~1182 of the unidentifed shearwater apparently attempting to nest on multiple occations. 12 digital audio recordings were also taken at night of the calling seabird from the nesting cavity to aid identification. The raw images and recordings are held with St Helena Government (SHG). |
