Regurgitate samples collected from Band-rumped storm petrels (Hydrobates castro) during December 2017, May 2018, January 2019 & May/June 2019

DNA barcoding techniques were used to extract mtDNA from regurgitate samples to study the diet of band-rumped storm petrels (Hydrobates castro) at St Helena.

Lineage 11 regurgitate samples were collected from 7 cool season (May/June 2018/2019) and 4 hot season (December 2017/January2019) band rumped storm petrels (Hydrobates castro) on Egg Island, St Helena by EMD. Details of samples are kept at EMD. Samples were sent to project partners at Cardiff University for storage, processing and analysis by DNA barcoding to identify prey items.
