Population size, distribution and productivity of Masked Boobies on mainland St Helena June 2013-June 2014

Masked boobies (Sula dactylatra) on mainland St Helena between Lot's Wife and Castle Rock Point area of Sandy Bay were mapped and behaviour identified monthly between June 2013 to May 2014. Minimum populations estimate (MPE) was estimated a to be 370 masked boobies, breeding success and distribution were also estimated. Csv files contain the location (lat/long) and behaviour of all masked boobies on the colony monthly.

Lineage Lot's Wife and Castle Rock Point area of Sandy Bay, St Helena Island were visited monthly from June 2013 to June 2014. Data was collected using a combination of mark-recapture techniques, scan counts, ground counts and digitisation of spatial data. Breeding masked boobies and their chicks were targeted for ringing. Daily egg and chick survival rates were calculated following Mayfield (1975) and their standard errors following Johnson (1979). A minimum population estimate (MPE) were calculated monthly to allow for incomplete habitat coverage in inaccessible and nonvisible areas, also undetected birds during the period of a monthly count. The raw data is held with EMD
