Lineage The island was divided into 16 sections which were designed to represent zones of reasonably consistent ecological conditions. The island were surveyed in detail by a walk-over and scanned with binoculars. Vascular plants and lichen species were recorded, and when each section was complete an estimate of the number of plants present was made, with an error range to give an impression of the degree of confidence in the total. For lichens, presence or absence was noted only. The raw data is held on a database with St Helena Government (SHG).
