Lineage | The gonads were extracted by cutting open the stomach cavity of the fish from the anus towards the head. The gonads were carefully collected using forceps and scissors, and any excess materials are cut away. Gonads are weighed with a 0.01 gram accuracy for a gonadosomatic index (GSI) and photographed with an Olympus digital 12 megapixel camera on a white background, next to a ruler of 1mm accuracy. Once weight and length are measured, a cross-section is made to determine the maturity stage of the gonads. A five stage maturity scale is used for determining maturity. File names represent trip ID and fish ID to link picture to individually sampled fish. |
