Lineage | Incubating and chick rearing adult S. dactylatra were tracked with GPS loggers (iGot-U GT-120, Mobile Action Technology) attached to the base of three or four central tail feathers using tesa tape. 147 loggers were deployed and programmed to take a GPS fix of the birds location every 5 minutes if incubating and every 100 seconds if rearing a chick. 133 retrieved loggers were downloaded using @trip software. The raw data is held with EMD and copies are held at the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). Metadata on deployments and retirevals are held in the seabird tracking database with EMD and RSPB. Tracks are archived on Movebank (St Helena seabirds) as well as Birdlife International Seabird Tracking Database. |
