GLS tracking of adult red-billed tropicbirds (Phaethon aethereus) from St Helena Island deployed during the 2016-2018 breeding seasons.

GLS loggers collected between November 2016 and December 2020 from red-billed tropicbirds (Phaethon aethereus). The dataseries includes a number of files to record light levels (.lux), activity (.deg) from wet/dry conditions and temperature (.sst), all of which can be used for estimation of their geographical location durng their non-breeding season.

Lineage 33 Geolocators (6x C65, 27x C330 Migrate Technology Ltd, Cambridge,UK; hereafter GLS loggers) were deployed between November 2016 and December 2018 on red-billed tropicbirds (Phaethon aethereus) at Egg Island and Ladder Hill mainland St Helena. GLS loggers record light levels every five minutes and wet/dry conditions every six seconds. This information can be used to estimate their geographical location durng their non-breeding season and how often they are in or on the surface of the sea. 21 were retireived (5x c65, 16x C330) between August 2017 and November 2020. Metadata on deployments and retirevals are detailed in and excel sheet matrix. Data was subsequently downloaded, cleaned and processed. The raw data is held with EMD and processed by Barcelona University project partners.
