Feather samples band rumped storm petrels red-billed tropicbird and brown noddiesfor molecular sexing.

Molecular sexing was completed using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) on breast feathers collected from rumped storm petrels (Hydrobates castro), red-billed tropicbird (Phaethon aethereus) and brown noddies (Anous stolidus) at St Helena.

Lineage 215 feather samples were collected from 34 band rumped storm petrels (Hydrobates castro), 28 brown noddies (Anous stolidus) and 153 red-billed tropicbirds (Phaethon aethereus) on St Helena by EMD. Each adult had 5-10 breast feathers plucked and placed in paper envelopes for storage. All samples were sent to project partners at Cardiff University for storage, processing and analysis. Molecular sexing was done using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) primer pair 2550F and 2718R. Details of samples are kept at EMD.
